Who’s tipped to take over from Gregg Wallace on MasterChef?

Speculation is mounting over who will replace Gregg Wallace on MasterChef after the BBC confirmed the series will air for another four years.
Last month the 60-year-old was forced to step away from hosting the show while an external review into historical misconduct allegations made against him takes place.
Host John Torode has been shooting the next season of the cooking series in recent weeks and Irish chef Anna Haugh has joined him.
Could we be looking at Gregg’s permanent replacement in Anna? Perhaps, but a host of other well-known faces have also been linked to the hosting role.
Names such as Gino D’Acampo, Nigella Lawson, and Grace Dent have been tossed around in recent times.

According to bookies, James Martin is a favourite to replace Gregg in the role, having had an ‘impressive’ career thus far.
The Yorkshire man hosts his own show, Jams Martin’s Saturday Morning, and he previously fronted Saturday Kitchen on BBC.
Interestingly, another name that’s been thrown around is Lisa Faulkner, who is the wife of Gregg’s former MasterChef co-host John Torode.
Could John and Lisa, who have been married since 2019, have a Richard and Judy or Eamonn and Ruth moment of their own in the near future?

The long and short of it is that it looks like the BBC hasn’t made a decision of who should replace Gregg, it’s all just speculation.
So, if we may be so bold, we’re tossing some more Irish names in the ring for the gig.

We can’t help but be biased, but how good would Clodagh McKenna be on Masterchef? Educated at Ballymaloe Cookery School and House, the Cork woman is no stranger to our TV screens.
She fronted a 13-part series titled Clodagh’s Irish Food Trails, has demonstrated cookery on The Rachael Ray Show, and has frequently appeared on ITV’s This Morning.

Another Irish star we’d love to see host MasterChef is our very own Kitchen Hero Donal Skehan.
Like Clodagh, he has featured on ITV’s This Morning and he’s also one of the rotating guest presenters for BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen.
He and John Torode already know they have a good working relationship as they co-presented Junior MasterChef in 2012. We think it’d be his bread and butter (pun intended)!
