Selena Gomez shows off €950k ring after getting engaged

Selena Gomez has announced she is engaged to her music producer boyfriend – and now fiancé (!) – Benny Blanco.

The couple has been dating for a year and a half and have already spoken publicly about wanting to get married – and now it’s official.

It looks like Benny popped the question with a romantic picnic in a park and Selena proudly showed off her HUGE oval-cut diamond engagement ring afterwards, writing: ‘Forever begins now..’

The 32-year-old singer shared a snap of the proposal spot as she sat admiring her ring on a picnic blanket in jeans and a fur coat, as the leftovers of their picnic – Taco Bell and champagne – lay to the side.

Selena looked like she was bursting with excitement as she held the stunning engagement ring up to her face in one picture and cuddled her fiancé in another, as Benny kissed her forehead.

Her friends flooded to the comments to congratulate her, with her bestie Taylor Swift writing: ‘yes I will be the flowergirl’ as Jennifer Aniston wrote: ‘HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama!’

Meanwhile, Benny sweetly commented: ‘hey wait… that’s my wife’.

She showed herself face-timing someone special as she showed them the ring, saying: ‘And yes to this… it’s so pretty,’ as the person on the phone exclaimed: ‘Ahhh it’s so beautiful!’

Selena’s stunning engagement ring is a marquise cut diamond, estimated to be around eight carats, on a gold band that’s encrusted with smaller diamonds that could be upwards of €950,000. Not too shabby!

Thoughtful as he is, Benny’s decision to opt for that specific ring is likely a nod to her 2015 track Good For You in which she sings about being ‘on my marquise diamonds’.

The lyric reads: ‘I’m on my marquise diamonds. I’m a marquise diamond. Could even make that Tiffany jealous.’ The engagement ring is certainly making us jealous!

Selena and Benny had been friends for over 10 years before they started dating in June 2023 but she waited until December to confirm the relationship with a cosy snap on her Instagram Stories where she rested her head on Benny’s shoulder.

Things moved fast for the couple and they quickly spoke about how serious they were with Benny confirming that marriage was on the cards for them a year into their relationship.

In an interview with Howard Stern earlier this year, Benny confirmed he was hoping to marry Selena, with the podcast host telling him: ‘You are some f***ing boyfriend, you’re knocking it out the park. I see love here, I’m predicting marriage.’

Benny replied: ‘You and me both,’ as Howard asked: ‘You got a ring?’ ‘I don’t have anything. I got no shoes on!’ Benny said: ‘I gotta get my act together.’

After asking about when he would propose, he said: ‘When I look at her… I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.’
