Virgin Media’s flagship political program, The Tonight Present, will bid farewell to its two presenters, Ciara Doherty and Claire Brock, following this weekend’s particular election protection.

Each hosts have introduced that tomorrow evening’s episode will mark their last look on the late-night present.

The departure comes within the wake of Virgin Media’s determination to reduce the present’s schedule, decreasing weekly episodes from 4 to 2, coinciding with the overall election interval.

Doherty, who has been a fixture on the station for 14 years and beforehand helmed Eire AM, described her determination as the beginning of a ‘new journey’, saying after ’14 sensible years I’ve determined to step away from the late nights and early mornings to start a brand new journey.’

Claire Brock echoed the sentiment, stating, ‘This weekend I’ll current my final Tonight Present, as I’ve made the choice to maneuver on from the function and from Virgin Media Tv.’

Virgin Media has but to announce who will take over presenting duties for The Tonight Present following their departure.

The transfer comes amidst modifications to Virgin Media’s present affairs programming, introduced in late October. The station cited funding challenges stemming from authorities selections affecting rival broadcaster RTÉ as a contributing issue.

Regardless of the cutbacks, Managing Director Áine Ní Chaoindealbháin reaffirmed the station’s dedication to public service broadcasting, stating: “Virgin Media Tv stays dedicated to public service broadcasting and can proceed to put money into our information and present affairs output.”
